We really didn’t set out to visit the filming locations of Game of Thrones. It just happens that the producers chose beautiful, interesting spots in which to film the show.
On the Dalmatian coast, in southern Croatia, Dubrovnik is called the “Pearl of the Adriatic”. Its moniker is justified, as it is a wonderfully beautiful place, with the old city completely surrounded by high walls.

It makes the perfect backdrop for the Lannister/Baratheon/Stark feud, unfolding in King’s Landing. While walking around the pedestrian only old town, we stumbled upon these sites from the show.
Minceta Tower was the House of the Undying

St Dominic Street

Fort Lovrigenac = Red Keep

Blackwater Bay

Jetty where Little Finger talked to Sansa

Stairs leading to the Red Keep

Gradac Park, where the Purple wedding took place and Joffrey died

Not even the pouring rain could detract from the beauty of the city. Dubrovnik was one of the prettiest cities that we visited, but the boatloads of tourists (literally- tons of cruise ships stop there), and shockingly high prices took away a lot of the charm. I know, I know, we are tourists too. We just didn’t expect so many other tourists that time of year. Clearly, this pearl is a popular one.
Beer of Choice: Ozujsko. (There are many other beers that probably would have been better, but beers were as pricey as in London, so we stuck to the cheaper ones.)
